Man Utd takeover news LIVE: Ratcliffe 'to complete deal by Christmas', Sancho next club lined up, Van de Beek medical | The Sun

SIR JIM RATCLIFFE will reportedly complete his 25 per cent purchase of Manchester United 'before Christmas'.

The billionaire chief of petrochemicals firm Ineos is a lifelong United fan and is ready to spend £1.25 billion for a share of the club – which will take up to eight weeks to approve.

Meanwhile, transfer chief John Murtough has been in Saudi Arabia discussing FOUR potential exits, with Jadon Sancho reportedly one of them.

Sancho has been offered a lifeline by RB Leipzig, but his wages are said to be a stumbling block.

Elsewhere, Donny van de Beek could finally make his way out of the club, with a medical at Eintracht Frankfurt reportedly in the offing.

Dortmund could snatch away United full-back

Borussia Dortmund could snatch Sergio Reguilon away from Manchester United in the January transfer window.

Reguilon is on loan at Old Trafford from Tottenham, but the London club are said to have a break clause inserted into his contract.

And it is now being reported by Sky Sports Germany's Patrick Berger, that Borussia Dortmund have made the 27-year-old their number one target during the winter window.

Reguilon could be swayed to make the move to the German giants now that Luke Shaw has returned to the team at Man Utd.

Murtough offers Man Utd transfer update

Manchester United football director John Murtough has warned that the club are unlikely to do any business in the January transfer window.

Speaking at a Man Utd fans' forum he explained that the club don't see the winter window as good time to be recruiting players.

Looking ahead to the January transfer window, we are not expecting it to be particularly busy.

There will always be the possibility of deals around the edges of the squad, particularly in terms of finding opportunities for players who are not playing as much football as they would like.

However, we’ve always been consistent in saying that we do not see January as the optimal time to do business and our recruitment strategy remains focused on summer windows.

Man Utd loanee wanted by German giants

Man Utd loanee Sergio Reguilon is wanted by German giants Borussia Dortmund next month.

According to Patrick Berger, Dortmund have made their own enquiry over a six-month loan deal.

There is a clause allowing the loan deal to Man Utd to be terminated, though with Tyrell Malacia still not fit and Luke Shaw's own fitness proving inconsistent this season it may come as a blow not having the option there.

Rashford must be happy to succeed, says Yorke

Dwight Yorke has revealed that happiness is the secret ingredient behind Marcus Rashford turning around his blip in form.

Rashford has been far from his best this season, with fans and pundits alike critical of his form.

However, Yorke has now revealed how Rashford can get back to his best.

He told MegaDice.com: "We've seen people discuss Harry Magiure's improved form, but that will flip upside down again eventually and people will discuss that once it happens.

"Maguire went through a sustained period of poor form, and Rashford is now going through the same thing and he has to flip that around.

"Marcus can get inspiration from other players who have been in his position, but we can all talk as much as we like – it's the players' responsibility and the coaches can only take you so far.

"You need to be in a happy place to achieve your best. You'll never get there if you're unhappy with the coaches, club, or your personal life.

"The most important thing for players is to enjoy what they're doing every day. If Rashford is not enjoying life at Man United, whether it's listening to Ten Hag and his coaches, then he'll never succeed.

"Marcus must get back to enjoying what he's doing. He'll be in trouble if that doesn't happen."

Barcelona open door to Man Utd move for European superstar

Man Utd could be able to land Robert Lewandowski in January after Barcelona reportedly opened their entire squad to transfer offers next month.

Cash-strapped Barcelona are struggling to secure £35m in investment from German firm Libero Football Finance which bought 29.5 per cent of its Barca Studios company.

Relevo report that while Barcelona have been in touch with potential investors they will have not excluded sales on the transfer market to raise cash.

Reports have suggested Barcelona could sell Lewandowski and this need to raise money could prompt Utd into action given their own forward issues this season.

Ten Hag signings have not improved Man Utd, says Yorke

Dwight Yorke has claimed Man Utd have gone backwards in part thanks to Erik ten Hag's signings.

Yorke does not believe the likes of Andre Onana have been beneficial to the club.

Speaking to MegaDice.com, he said: "'Man United had one of the best goalkeepers in David de Gea, but they let him go. The club has moved on, but they haven't really improved in De Gea's absence.

“You don't sign players who are on the same level as the old ones. The whole recruitment strategy needs to be focused on making the squad better.

"When I look at the current squad, I don't think the team is any better with the signings they've made. It shouldn't be like this.

“The club has made so many changes, but the focus hasn't been on improvement. I get the impression that the level of this team is the same as the previous one, and that's what I'm struggling with.

"It doesn't matter if you sign a goalkeeper, a striker, or a centre-back, every signing needs to be made with the same aim – to make the squad better."

Man Utd should not waste time signing Malen, says Yorke

Dwight Yorke has told Man Utd not to bother signing Donyell Malen after reports linked the ace in a Jadon Sancho swap deal to Borussia Dortmund.

Speaking to MegaDice.com, Yorke said Man Utd cannot afford to buy "alright" players such as Malen.

He said: "I've not seen much of Donyell Malen, but I know he's scored a few goals in the Bundesliga. I haven't seen enough of him to make a judgment on him, but he seems to be an alright player.

"United can't waste money signing players who won't improve the squad. I'm an aspiring coach, and that's the first thing I take into consideration before I sign anyone.

"If this player doesn't raise the level of the position he's playing in, then the team will continue on the same path.

"United need to sign players who will be comfortable with the pressure of the club and who will help them win football matches.

"A good player performs even when the rest of the team isn't. We're not seeing that in the current squad. Scott McTominay is the only one who looks as if he has a fire in his belly.

"Good players can influence matches even when the team looks down and out. None of the current players look a threat and they all look fragile.

"It's hard to see any of these players producing something extraordinary, but every team needs individuals like that.

"Football is always easier when you're playing well, but you really know about players when they're not. That's where to find out how good they really are."

Potter replacing Ten Hag would surprise me, says McManaman

Steve McManaman has admitted he would be "surprised" if Man Utd actually replaced Erik ten Hag with Graham Potter.

Speaking to Betfred, he said: "I’m not sure if he would suffer the same fate that he did at Chelsea, but I would be amazed if Manchester United got rid of Erik Ten Hag and replaced him with Graham Potter after what happened at Chelsea.

“I’ve got a lot of sympathy for Graham because I think he was treated appallingly during his time at Stamford Bridge.

"However, I would be amazed if Manchester United appointed him after everything that went on at Chelsea because if anything negative happens again, there would be so many questions as to why they took a chance on him after such a disastrous time at Chelsea.

“I’m not saying that it was Graham Potter’s fault, because that would be far from the truth, but I just don’t know why they would need to go there.

"Why not pick a manager that has just won the league somewhere? Why not go for Xabi Alonso who’s at the top of the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen? Why go for a manager that’s been out of work for eight months and had a failed experience at Chelsea?

“I’m not saying this is a failure on the behalf of Graham Potter. I thought Chelsea treated Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter terribly, but I would be very surprised if the latter was on the shortlist for Manchester United.

"I don’t believe Erik ten Hag will even leave Manchester United, but I’d be incredibly surprised if Graham was on the shortlist for one of the biggest jobs in world football.”

    Sancho offered return to Germany

Jadon Sancho has been offered a return to Germany with RB Leipzig in January, reports suggest.

Bild report Leipzig are interested in the winger and could table a deal in the coming weeks.

However, it is understood the 23-year-old's £17m-a-year salary is a stumbling block to the deal.

Barcelona and Juventus are also keeping tabs on the situation.

Man Utd takeover to happen by Christmas

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is reportedly set to complete his £1.25billion investment in Manchester United before Christmas.

But fans are being warned not to expect their stockings to be full of presents despite the billionaire’s arrival.

The Ineos chief and lifelong Red Devils supporter is stumping up the mega cash for a 25 per cent stake in the Old Trafford club.

Talks have rumbled on for months but now the Daily Mail claim it could finally get over the line and announced this week in a big festive boost.

However, it will likely take between six and eight weeks for approval to come through.

And to make matters worse, the report adds that immediate big-name transfers and major improvements to Old Trafford are off the cards.

    Richards praises 'outstanding Mainoo'

Micah Richards has lavished praise on "outstanding" Kobbie Mainoo following Man Utd's 0-0 draw with Liverpool.

Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, he said: "We have to mention Kobbie Mainoo, though, don’t we? He has been outstanding. The games that he has played in away from home, big games. He did well at Everton, I think I remember that game.

"He did well against Liverpool, getting on the ball and just doing the basic things, nothing too extravagant, just doing the basics really well, tackling when he needs to, right positions, he is obviously comfortable on the ball, he took no risks.

"He has a really level, mature performance, and I just thought that he was outstanding.”

    Record breaker Mainoo

Kobbie Mainoo became the youngest-ever starter for Man Utd against Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday.

Mainoo, 18, starred in midfield for the Red Devils and was a key player in helping the Red Devils to keep a clean sheet.

Boss Ten Hag said after the match on Mainoo: "If you are good enough, you are old enough."

Man Utd were like League Two team an Anfield, says Lineker

Gary Lineker has claimed Man Utd played like a League Two team in their 0-0 draw with Liverpool on Sunday.

Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, he said: "That was a damp squib, wasn’t it? There was hardly a proper chance in the game. The only bit I enjoyed about the match was watching Trent’s (Alexander-Arnold) passing.

"I got a text from a Manchester United-supporting friend of mine he said, ‘it's come to this, the highlight of the game is watching Jonny Evans punt the ball down the touchline in the hope, the dream that Antony could maybe get on the end of it and win a throw in'.

"We're talking about Manchester United like they’re a League Two team going to Anfield and hanging on for a draw."

Alan Shearer also said that it was a "rotten" game, before adding: "I can't believe I had to watch it live and then sit and watch it again for Match of the Day.

"It was an awful game, the standard was poor. Liverpool were the better team and had more chances, more possession, but the standard of forward play from both teams was terrible.

"Both teams actually got into some good positions. Hojlund should have scored, missed it, but it was a really poor game. Man United had to defend, defend, defend.

"Liverpool just had nothing in attack. It was one of those days for them that they just couldn't find the back with the net.

"That’s what it felt like and that's what it looked like (a League Two team).

"We said that in the office, this looks like a League Two team in the FA Cup that’s hanging on for dear life to try and get a replay, a point or whatever."

It had been speculated that Madueke was gearing up for a move next month to get some playing time under his belt.

Amid reports linking them with manager Graham Potter, Man Utd has subsequently been linked with the Englishman.

    Varane 'hopeful of contract extension'

Raphael Varane is hopeful that Man Utd will trigger the one-year contract extension in his contract, according to Manchester Evening News.

The Frenchman has been linked with an Old Trafford exit after seeing his playing time cut this season.

However, following an impressive showing against Liverpool he is hoping he can convince the club to trigger the extension clause in his contract.

The club previously communicated incorrectly that Varane's deal ran until 2025 with a one-year extension, when in fact it runs until 2024 with with the additional option.

    Yorke unimpressed with United's signings

Dwight Yorke has told MegaDice he is unimpressed with the level of player Manchester United have brought in of late.
